P.S. 273, The Wortman School, is an elementary school serving grades from 3K to Grade 5 in the East New York section of Brooklyn. We are a Title 1 school with around 309 students. Our population consists of 70% Black students, 26% Hispanic, and 4% other. Students with Disabilities make up 26% of our school enrollment. 2% of our students are English Language Learners. P.S. 273 is a caring and nurturing school community that embodies the best interest of all children by putting them first. We believe that all children are capable of learning when given the suitable environment for learning. We offer a variety of academic strategic grouping that allows every type of learner to meet their greatest potential. We offer Stem, P.E., Arts and Dance when the budget allows. We are the first "Comfort Dog" school in the district. Our dog "Chase" has been trained and is an awesome addition to our school family.. He is a hypoallergenic breed. P. S. 273 uses Sanford Harmony to strengthen positive peer relationships. We pride ourselves on the loving community we have been able to develop over time. Our doors are always open and the sun always shines in P. S. 273.
